Romancing Rare Hearts

4 logo_1685361_web

This is a free dating website where you can find a friend or that special someone–people who share a similar disability or rare medical condition as yours. Chronic odor is my own condition, and I can only speak with other people like me about it because only they can relate to the struggles of living with it.

As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases on this website. There are many must-see series, blockbuster movies, and events included with your Prime subscription, including free shipping and one-day shipping on thousands of items, as well as getting your groceries delivered to your door with Amazon Fresh. Sign up for a free 30-day Prime Video trial here.

Someone here wants to meet you!

This dating website seeks to remedy the fact that we with our conditions and disabilities don’t quite fit in with the “regular” dating sites. After all, we are no less human, no less capable of love, no less desiring of falling in love. So, why should we be left out?

You must be 18 years old or older to join this dating site.

This site does not discriminate on the basis of religion, gender, race, sexual orientation, or anything else. You can register for this site even if you don’t have a disability or rare condition and you wouldn’t mind dating someone who does have one. All who thirst for companionship are welcome.

One of the key benefits of registering is your ability to use the “Members Living Near You” page. There you can find your country or state and see if there are any members listed underneath it. Then, after logging in, simply click on any member’s username and you’ll be taken directly to that member’s profile page where you can “friend” him or her or send them a private message.

Upon registering and then logging in for the first time, you will receive a Welcome email with additional information about the site.

Romancing Rare Hearts is a bit more intimate than the average support group website. Though there is public posting, the posting is a little less public and more private here, between members. So, there is more emphasis on intimacy and privacy than publicity. The only component of this site that resembles an average support group is a private group that can be created by any member, and any member can ask to join it.

If you decide to create a group, please moderate it on a regular basis, preferably at least once a month: answering and asking questions, getting to know your members, etc. If you think you won’t have time to do that, it would be advisable not to create one.

For people with a mental disorder, you may also want to check out this website: https://www.nolongerlonely.com/

As for those of you who don’t have a rare condition, only use this site if you’re 100% sure that you will not reject a member (after a physical meeting) solely for his or her disorder. Otherwise, please join another dating site.

As far as I know (as of 2015), this is the first site of its kind, but I’m sureheart_rocks_attributes_crafts_love_35996_300x188 not the last. Others will follow and improve upon this one. As a result, thousands of people just like us will meet others just like us and fall in love and perhaps even raise families. I’m hoping that will happen beginning with this first site (if this is the first site of its kind).

However, this is not just a dating site. Without needing to register, you can click on any of the pages on the left to learn about chronic odor remedies and treatments (if that is your condition), and also links to support groups for various types of disabilities and conditions. There is also a page dedicated to jobs and info on certain addictions.

Even if you choose not to become a member of this site, please feel free to browse, read, and/or order any products. Most products on this website can be purchased through Amazon.com. When ordering, this site does not collect any personal information such as your Amazon password or bank info. Also not collected by this site are the purchaser’s name and the item that was bought.

  1. From a fellow tmau survivor, (got picked on in high school) Would it be wrong or weird for someone to like the scent of fish. Would that be abnormal or a disorder or defect or something, just wondering. Different people male and female are attracted to different smells or scents, why does it have to be something bad, few and far in between tho they may be, or maybe theres more people like that than people realize. Why should something unique or different/nonconforming to a supposed perfect genetic profile which doesnt exist, (because no DNA structure is perfect hence none of us are immortal and all genomes are slightly different even identical twins) about someone be a bad thing or cause for stress or depression. What if you could find someone of the opposite gender that loved you for it or was attracted to it but above all to who you were on the inside and that didnt matter to them because you had perfectly compatible personalities. The majority of people throughout history have been perfectly able to eat or survive off of fish for sustenance, so it apparently isnt as abhorrent to people as they might think if so many eat it much less the number that eat raw sushi and consider it a delicacy and pay alot for it. It’s all about attitude, love accept and value yourself and you’re guaranteed to find somebody that will love you back. Or you may just find someone anyways whether you like it or not, not when you’re at your greatest but when you least expect it when you’re at your lowest point possibly. Those people can save us.

  2. A Kenyan in Kenya.. I’ve been here a while, not much active, up until now, when someone sent me a friend request lol Who was it that said, if you go out looking for friends, you’ll find it difficult getting them, but if you go out to be a friend, you’ll get them everywhere…

I’m not sure if I have TMAU, no available tests here, but nonetheless living with bad body and breath odor, has taken its toll on both my social and dating life.. I’m always happy to be with people like me, who can empathize.. even better if they are single and looking for love too. Thank you Rich for the site and for having me

    1. Thank you for your comment, Oscar! I hope the site is making a positive impact on some of the people with our condition. I’m glad you’re finding friendships here, and I’m proud to be one of them!

  3. Hello Everyone!! My first day on this very unique site. I think it is one of a kind. Very grateful for it. My journey as a TMAU survivor, started at a very early age while in grammar school. Back when Doctors came to the school and Children were lined up as the doctor examined us in front of everyone. This doctor made a “stinky face” and was seen by a classmate,( as I am sure, by others as well), and she told me that I smelled. My very first encounter with this condition. My skin has thickened over the years, but some days, it gets to me, the cruel remarks, the rejection and I just have to let it out, because it has caused me so much pain on that particular day. To have someone in our lives that truly understands would be a gift. I feel privileged to be a part of this dating site. People like us are rare.

    1. Hi Renee. I’m glad to have you here on the site. Most of us here have this condition. I, personally, have had it for over 25 years. For me, it doesn’t get any easier as time goes by. I hope the site helps you in finding the relationships you’re looking for, as well as the info you might need to fight your condition. There’s a lot to see and do here. Good luck! If you need any help with anything I’ll be more than happy to assist you.

    1. Hi Jazmine. You might have already received the welcome email explaining some things about this site, if not, you soon will. After reading it, if you have any questions, I will be more than happy to help you. Welcome and thank you for joining!

  4. Thanks for commenting, PB2G51. I know what you mean by the ugly looks, etc. by people who don’t understand that this is a medical condition and it has nothing to do with our hygiene.

It looks as though you registered but then might have changed your mind. If you’re having any problem becoming a member, just let me know and I’ll help you.

But, you don’t necessarily have to be a member of the site to take advantage of all the valuable info on our condition on the various pages on the left. I hope you join, though.

    Rich

  5. Hi Everybody! Rich thank you for this site and for bringing awareness to our disorder! I’ve been dealing with this all my life and I have to say that it has made me to be stronger and ignore all the ugly looks, rude comments, not to mention the rejection from people who just didn’t understand my plight. I feel so much better after finding out this is an actual disorder, it can be managed, and am worthy of life , laughter, and friendship! This by no means defines who I am.

    1. Hey Samie. You’ve already met somebody with your disorder–me. Thank you for the site compliment. I hope you get a lot of useful info on our condition and meet a lot of good people here. 🙂

      Rich

  6. Hello Rich,
I’m so glad to see a site such as this for people with rare disorders. I pray this site does very well. The desire for love, companionship, and marriage is a need most all humans desire.
    Good luck and happy dating,
    Marsha

    1. Hey, Marsha. Thanks so much for your kind words! I searched for a long time for a site like this but couldn’t find one. Sometimes we just have to do things ourselves and not wait for somebody else to do it.

      Rich

  7. Hello, I live in massachuesetts and have tmau, fish odor syndrome, the same thing that the creator of this site has, I’m looking for someone, particularly in the northeast region but if not that’s fine.

    1. Hello, Zachary. I see that you haven’t registered on the site. There is at least one member who is from your home state. If you click on the register button close to the top of the side bar you will be able to meet someone in your area after registering. You can send the member a private message if you like. In the meantime, I’ll send you an email to give you a better understanding of how to navigate through the site, which every new member is given.

Please let me know if you have any problems. I’ll do everything I can to help.

      Richard
